[스타뉴스=길혜성 기자] YG’s next artist to make a debut following BIGBANG is iKON, consisting of members B.I, BOBBY, KIM JINHWAN, KOO JUNHOE, SONG YUNHYEONG, JUNG CHANWOO and KIM DONGHYUK.
According to several personnel in the music industry on June 17, YG, one of the largest agencies in South Korea, has just decided to release iKON’s debut track around the time BIGBANG finishes with the MADE project that will go on from May to September.
The personnel said, “iKON has been preparing more than 50 songs for the official debut. iKON will be making an official debut into the music world around the end of August.”
Even without a proper debut the newest boy group has already secured a solid fan base. The promising newbies are attracting much attention of the music industry.
Through the program “MIX & MATCH” aired last year through Mnet, the final seven members were selected. The hip-hop group successfully attracted 7,000 fans to their first fan meeting even before making a debut. BOBBY, a talented rapper, already became the champion of “Show Me the Money 3” on Mnet and his fellow member B.I boasts an incredible producing skill.
According to a survey done against 28 music agency heads, producers, program producers and critics at the beginning of the year, iKON became the “most anticipated artist of the year” along with IU and EXID.
So it is not surprising that iKON is already arousing much attention in the industry.
On the other hand, SONG MIN HO from iKON’s “big brother group” WINNER will be making an appearance on “Show Me the Money 4” that will be aired for the first time on June 26 while NAM TAE HYUN will be appearing in an SBS drama “Late Night Restaurant.” WINNER’s new album will therefore be released following that of iKON’s.
