[스타뉴스=길혜성 기자] YG Entertainment’s executive producer YANG HYUN SUK showed much confidence for the upcoming boy group iKON (with members B.I., BOBBY, KIM JINHWAN, KOO JUNHOE, SONG YUNHYEONG, JUNG CHANWOO and KIM DONGHYUK). It attracts much attention as YANG is usually known for being a picky producer even for the top artists in YG.
YANG told Star News on July 31, “iKON will be making a debut with a new song on Sept 15. For a long time iKON has been devoting their energy trying to pick one out of many songs they have been working on.”
“We know all eyes are on iKON, and they are also devoting all their energy on making the song perfect. The song to be unveiled in September will be able to satisfy the expectations.”
“iKON’s end-of-year goal is winning the New Artist award. Last year WINNER received it, and it would be fantastic if iKON can get it this year.”
Last year iKON was formed on the survival program “MIX & MATCH” with 7 final members. The newbie hip-hop group attracted a whopping 7,000 fans to a artist-fan meeting even before their debut. BOBBY became the champion of “Show Me the Money 3” while B.I has already showcased some incredible producing skills.
iKON was selected as the most anticipated artist of the year in a survey done against 28 producers, executive producers and music critics early this year. IU and EXID were also ranked on top with iKON.
So it is only natural expectations are building for the newbie YG group.
