[텐아시아 = 최보란 기자] The 7 members of YG Entertainment’s newest group iKON have been finalized.
As the first three, KOO JUNHOE, SONG YUNHYEONG, and JUNG CHANWOO are announced from Nov 4 to 6 on YG’s official blog, the final member to join iKON was unveiled in the final episode of Mnet’s MIX & MATCH—and it was KIM DONGHYUK. And thus the 7 members were finalized. After the show, a poster to show KIM DONGHYUK as the final member was uploaded on YG’s blog.
YG successfully helped WINNER make a debut through “WIN: WHO IS NEXT.” By proving their talents on the program, they secured a large fan base even before their debut. Their debut was indeed dynamic as their songs swept across charts immediately.
And the latest MIX & MATCH came to an end after garnering much popularity. The program’s popularity is directly related to iKON’s popularity. The fans have much faith in the members who survived the fierce MIX & MATCH, and their talents are quite different to other groups.
WINNER, who made a debut before iKON, surprised everyone. YG mainly focuses on hip-hop, but WINNER’s was lyrical and sentimental. Many expected WINNER to release dance music but they didn’t. Both their double title tracks were medium-tempo songs.
They impressed many by creating “2014 S/S” album consisting their own songs. Their title track “EMPTY topped 9 real-time charts while all their 10 songs were lined up on several music charts.
Unlike WINNER, iKON carries more of the hip-hop feel. B.I and BOBBY were on the show “Show Me the Money 3” while also partaking in EPIK HIGH’s “BORN HATER”.
B.I is a good leader of Team B, and has been dubbed the “2^nd G-DRAGON” by YANG HYUN SUK for his rapping and song-writing skills. BOBBY won “Show Me the Money 3,” shattering the prejudice people have against idol groups.
Each member carries such unique colors that the combination of them all is expected to be incredible.
KIM JINHWAN melts the hearts of female fans with his sentimental voice. KOO JUNHOE’s husky voice and tall height, along with his dancing skills have the same effect. KOO JUNHOE was discovered on SBS’s “K-Pop Star” and also appeared on “Star King” as the “13-year-old Michael Jackson.” SONG YUNHYEONG possesses a sweet voice and a handsome face.
JUNG CHANWOO, the youngest of the group, is a very fast learner and a talented singer. JUNG CHANWOO has acted in many dramas since he was a child. Last but not least, KIM DONGHYUK attracted much attention with his dancing and singing skills, and also with his ability to play the piano , drums and guitar.
The finalized 7 members will be continuing on the reputation of YG’s boy group. Starting from Nov 15 and 16, they will be opening BIGBANG’s Japans’ 5 Largest Dome Tour from Nagoya. This will be their first official performance.
As their talents have already been proven many times through the two big auditions, all eyes are on iKON already. How will they appear in the real music world? And what kind of charms will differentiate them from WINNER? All eyes are on the new team, iKON now.
